Celebration of the 65th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution in Sri Lanka

Colombo, January 1, 2024. With an activity among friends and members of solidarity with Cuba in Sri Lanka, an act of celebration took place at the Cuban diplomatic mission to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, which It is commemorated this January 1st.
In his words, the Cuban ambassador Andrés Marcelo González Garrido thanked everyone for their permanent support and solidarity with Cuba and highlighted the achievements and successes achieved by the revolution in the year that has just concluded, despite the cruel economic and commercial blockade of the United States and recalled that for the 31st consecutive year it received condemnation in the UN General Assembly, with an overwhelming majority of members, with only the US and Israel voting against and Ukraine abstaining.
The diplomat also referred to Cuba's pro tempore presidency of the Group 77 plus China (G77 + China),  and to the Summit of Heads of State and of Government of the G77 and China, held in Havana on September 15 and 16 on “, which had extremely positive results and was attended by more than 1,300 participants from 116 countries and 12 organizations, agencies and programs of the United Nations system and in which 31 heads of State and Government (including the President of Sri Lanka), 12 vice presidents, a large number of ministers from different portfolios and many other high dignitaries.
He congratulated everyone on the New Year and expressed that Cuba, despite the difficulties it faces, will emerge victorious in its efforts to move forward with commitments, resistance and victories.
The member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, Hon. Tissa Vitarana, Chairman of parlamentariam group of friendship Sri Lanka Cuba, on behalf of those present, highlighted the example that Cuba constitutes for the world and the solidarity that it has always provided to many countries, including Sri Lanka.
