Celebration of Cuban children residing in Turkey.

Istanbul, Turkey, April 22. The small children of a group of Cuban residents in Turkey participated enthusiastically in the artistic workshop "Barquito de Papel," held the day before at the Nazim Hikmet Cultural Center of the great Turkish city. The occasion was favorable to celebrate the anniversaries of the founding of the Union of Young Communists (UJC) and the José Martí Pioneers Organization (OPJM), as well as Children's Day in Turkey.

At the beginning of the activity, the Cuban Consul, Mayvet González Fernández, highlighted the coincidence this month of the anniversaries of the two Cuban organizations and the Turkish celebration, events of respective significance in each country. He also highlighted the importance of cultivating values ​​in children and young people through culture.

Hakely Nakao, artist and president of the Association of Cuban Residents in Turkey, led the animation of the celebration, in which its protagonists colored, painted, made paper boats, hummed and danced Cuban children's songs, and became familiar with national symbols and emblematic characters of the Antillean children's cinematography.

At the end, the members of the Cuban community and their children spoke together with officials of the Embassy of Cuba, including its ambassador Luis Amorós Núñez, and with members of the José Martí Friendship Association.
