The Ambassador of Cuba, Roger López García, pointed out that the events that took place on July 26, in the year of the centenary of our National Hero, José Martí, mark a milestone in the most recent history of our country.
The Cuban diplomat, referring to the importance of the events that allowed the struggle in the Sierra Maestra, and the defeat of the tyranny, highlighted the socioeconomic transformation of Cuba in six decades of Revolution.
The representative of the Greater Antilles condemned the abominable economic blockade imposed by the US, and reiterated Cuba's demands for it to be removed from the unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
For the Dano-Cuban Friendship Association, Inge Hogh offered details of the action, its protagonists, and the way in which the Moncada assailants taken prisoner by Batista's henchmen were murdered and tortured. He highlighted the content of the historical plea of the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro, during the Moncada trial, and the definitive victory on January 1, 1959. He pointed out that the action will continue to be the living example that leads the Cuban people to build a society fairer and more humane, despite the genocidal blockade.
The event concluded with a cultural evening with performances by a musical group of Latin American friends, in which representatives of the communist parties, unions, and resident Cubans participated.
