Celebration in Egypt of the 61st anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution

On the occasion of the 61th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution on January 1st, 2020, the Embassy of Cuba held a reception this December 8th that was attended by representatives of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the diplomatic corps, members of the Cuban community resident in the country and Egyptian friends.

The speech of the Cuban Ambassador Tania Aguiar Fernández showed some of the greatest achievements reached during these 61 years of revolution and its importance and impact for Cubans and friend peoples which the Cuban solidarity has been shared with.

The Ambassador stressed: "61 years of revolution is easy to say. It is a story of 6 decades of resistance, but also development: Cuba remains as an international reference of what can be achieved in terms of health and education."

By referring to the relations between Cuba and Egypt, she highlighted the historic relations between both countries: "We can not stop remembering in these moments of celebration the figure of Fidel Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, who professed an endearing friendship with the Egyptian people. I have to confess that I have not yet met a Cuban who does not feel special admiration for this country, its people and its history."
