On the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution, the Embassy of Cuba held a reception last December 20th that was attended by representatives of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the diplomatic corps, Cuban residents and Egyptian friends.
In the opening remarks, Cuban Ambassador Laureano Rodríguez gave a summary about what these years of Revolution have meant for Cubans and the challenges they have faced.
"It was the first attempt in Latin America of being independent of the influence of the United States, it was the triumph of a revolution of the humble ones and for the humble ones. One of the most beautiful social experiences is to build a republic with everybody and for good of everybody, where the homeland was due to served and not to be used in our interest, and where homeland is humanity."
On the current state of relations between Cuba and Egypt, the Cuban Ambassador said:
"Political relations with Egypt are exemplary and our international objectives are coincidental: independence, territorial integrity, non-interference in the internal affairs of other States, solidarity with the Palestinian cause and against terrorism."
