Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Danish Parliament receives the Cuban Ambassador

Copenhagen, 20 November 2020. The Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the “Folketing”, Danish Parliament, Martin Lidegaard; received at the headquarters of the Chiristiamborg Palace, the Ambassador of Cuba in the Kingdom of Denmark, Roger López García.

The Cuban diplomat conveyed to him the will of the National Assembly of the People's Power of Cuba (ANPP), the Cuban legislative body, to promote inter-parliamentary relations, and cooperation in various fields with the Danish Parliament, as a contribution to the development of ties between our two countries and peoples.

The parliamentarian, a member of the Social Liberal party (“Radikale Ventre”), of the center-left party bloc that supports the Social Democratic Government, agreed on the desire to contribute to strengthening the ties of friendship between the Parliaments of Cuba and Denmark.

During the meeting, López García, offered an update on the consequences of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on our country by the United States, and its real impact on the Greater Antilles.

In the same way, he discussed other aspects of the work of our health professionals in the face of the pandemic, he referred to the Cuban medical collaboration, and about the nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize to the Henry Reeve brigade, for its humanistic and high professional level.

The Folketing, which in Danish means “Assembly of the People's Government”, is the seat of the unicameral National Parliament located on the islet of Slotsholmen, in the center of the country's capital.
