NASSAU, March 1, 2018. - The Ambassador of Cuba to the Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, held today a cordial meeting with Frederick A. Mitchell, current president of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP), at his office in the Fox Hill constituency.
During the exchange, both parties discussed about the current projects carried out by the PLP, the main opposition party in the Caribbean nation. Frederick Mitchell conveyed his interest to visit Cuba soon, taking into account the solid existing relationships between the PLP and the PCC. This would be Mitchell’s first visit to Havana as President of the PLP. He has visited Cuba several times in his former capacity as Minister of Foreign Affairs of The Bahamas.
The Cuban diplomat updated the PLP Chairman on the socioeconomic situation in Cuba, the preparations for the general elections scheduled for March 11th and the democratic essence of this process. She also referred to the relations with the United States. In this context, the Ambassador denounced the damages caused to the Cuban people for the application of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US against Cuba .
Vanesa Ortega Guerrero, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba in The Bahamas also attended the meeting.
