Wellington, May 24 2017- Cuban Ambassador to New Zealand, Mario Alzugaray, paid a courtesy visit to Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee at New Zealand Parliament, Todd Muller. During the meeting, held at Parliament Office, both sides had a candid and insightful exchange on diverse world affairs, as well as issues related to the interest of both nations to further improved bilateral links.
The National Party MP, voiced his interest on the current situation in Cuba, future developments, as well as its international relations. It also expressed satisfaction in the development of joint actions with impact for cooperation with the Pacific Islands, related to the English training program provided to Cuban doctors in Tauranga before heading to their missions in the Kiribati and Vanuatu. Tauranga is the most populous city in the Bay of Plenty, region Mr. Muller represents in parliament.
The Cuban diplomat offered also information on the update of the Cuban economic model and the interest of his country to assess those useful experiences of New Zealand development path.
Todd Muller recently assumed as Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade in Parliament and is also a member of the Education and Science Committee.
