The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados, Honorable Senator Maxine PO McClean, received the new Cuban ambassador, Francisco Fernández Peña, who was congratulated on his appointment, wished him success in his performance and gave all required support to work together for the continued strengthening of bilateral relations. The Barbadian Foreign Minister acknowledged the historical cooperation of Cuba with their country, with the sister nations of the Caribbean and the rest of the world, particularly in Africa, through providing decisive contribution to the fight against Ebola. In this context, he confirmed his presence in the CARICOM-Cuba Summit V, to be held next December 8 in Havana, accompanying the Prime Minister, Honourable Freundel Stuart. In thanking the warm welcome, the Cuban diplomat confirmed his government's will to deepen bilateral ties and the existing cooperation, in addition to endeavor to work in concert as part of CARICOM and other regional and international forums.
