Charge d' Affaires talks to the Jamaican digital media about the situation in Cuba, the state of bilateral relations and the effects of the blockade

On August 13, the Charge d'Affaires of the Cuban Embassy in Jamaica, Ulises Calvo Borges, gave an interview to Tenement Yaad Media. Speaking about the US economic, commercial and financial blockade on Cuba and its true objectives, he said that the sanctions imposed by former President Donald Trump and their intensification affect the development of the country. In response to the interviewer's question about the events of July 11, the official reaffirmed that these are not a reflection of a social outbreak, and that Cuba was a victim of a political-communication operation orchestrated from the territory of the United States, although he acknowledged that not everyone who took to the streets that day committed violent acts. He added that the Embassy faced five protests in July, four of them in a week spam, in an attempt to disrupt the running of the Diplomatic Mission and intimidate its staff.

With regard to bilateral relations, the Charge d'Affaires reiterated Cuba's eternal gratitude for Jamaica's courageous decision to establish diplomatic relations with Cuba in 1972, an act that broke what was imposed by the United States, after the triumph of the Revolution. Cuban.
