The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Cuba signs Book of Condolences

The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Cuba to Ghana, Julio César Sánchez Martínez signed the Book of Condolences opened in memory of the late former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Mr. Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, at the Accra International Conference Center.

Mr. Amissah-Arthur, who passed away on Friday, 29th June, 2018, at the age of 67 years, served as Vice President of the Republic of Ghana during the government of John Dramani Mahama (2012-2017). Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and economist by profession, he held important governmental responsibilities, as he was: Governor of the Bank of Ghana (2009-2012) and Deputy Minister of Finance (April 1993-March 1997). He was also a university professor in Ghana and Nigeria.

The late Vice President, who in December of 2014 represented his government in the Central Activity for the 55th Anniversary of Cuba-Ghana diplomatic relations, in his interventions was favorable to the expansion of bilateral collaboration. He also expressed his solidarity with the Cuban people, victim, of the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade, imposed for more than fifty years by the American governments of the day.
