The solidarity initiative with Cuba taking place in Grenada between April 14 and May 14 has gained new momentum with the active participation of churches across the country. Special collections have been announced in churches and congregations as part of the national campaign led by the Citizens for Cuba (CRC) group.
In recent meetings with religious leaders, CRC representatives presented the proposal to dedicate specific services to raising funds and supplies for Cuba. The idea was enthusiastically received by the Grenada Conference of Churches and the Alliance of Pentecostal Churches, which have already begun implementing mechanisms to facilitate the participation of their members.
The collections will be held on weekends between April 18 and May 10, with a special emphasis on Seventh-day Adventist Church services on Saturdays and services in other denominations on Sundays. In this way, the aim is to ensure that every religious community has the opportunity to join the solidarity effort.
In addition to collections in churches, fundraising activities have been planned at the parish and sector levels, including breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and concerts. The unions have also announced a special action on May 1st, International Workers' Day, with a large collection to support the Cuban people.
The funds raised will be used to purchase essential supplies of energy, food, and medicine, both within and outside of Grenada. The campaign combines fundraising with the collection of critical supplies, reaffirming the commitment of Grenadian society to international solidarity, especially with Cuba.
