Commander Ernesto Che Guevara remembered in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka October 8, 2021, The 54th anniversary of the fall of Ernesto Che Guevara in Bolivia was remembered today in Sri Lanka.
The place where in 1959 the heroic revolutionary planted a mahogany tree on the occasion of his visit to the then Ceylan served as a framework to remember him on this new anniversary.
On behalf of the Ambassador of Cuba Andrés Marcelo Garrido in the company of Eranga Gunasekara and Anjana Samith Amarasinghe, National Organizer and Secretary of International Relations respectively of the Union of Socialist Youth of Sri Lanka (SYU), floral arrangements were deposited in the plaque that recalls Che's presence in the place.
Likewise, the Cuban diplomatic representative read the message of greeting from the National Bureau of the Union of Young Communists of Cuba (UJC), sent especially on the occasion of the remembrance prepared by the SYU.
On the part of the Union of Socialist Youth of Sri Lanka (SYU), belonging to the Front for the Liberation of the People (JVP) party, has been organized a journey , of remembrance to date, which includes different activities, including online discussions with left organizations from other countries and locals, blood donations, songs and environmental programs.
