A representation of the organizations and personalities that make up the Solidarity Movement with Cuba in Ghana participated in the political-cultural activity commemorating the 66th Anniversary of the actions of July 26. Among the attendees were: the acting National Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Hajia Hamdatu Ibrahim; the presidential candidate for that party in the 2016 elections, Dr. Ivor Kobina Greenstreet; the Professor Albie Walls, leader of the All African People’s Revolutionary Party (A-APRP).
The keynote speakers were: the former Ambassador of Ghana to Cuba, Kojo Amoo Gottfried; the former Ambassador of Cuba to Ghana Ghana, Juan Carretero; the leader of the Socialist Forum of Ghana, Kwesi Pratt Jnr.; the Treasurer of the Association of the Ghanaian Trained in Cuba (ESBECAN), Philip Arthur Bentil; the acting Head of the Cuban Medical Brigade (BMC), Yahimi Parada. In all interventions tribute was paid to the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, Cuba's internationalist work in Africa, and in Ghana in particular, was highlighted. Attendees also strongly condemned the current anti-Cuban escalation that stars in the US administration, and pledged to continue working for the total lifting of the blockade.
The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. from the Embassy of Cuba, Julio Cesar Sánchez in his words of thanks to visitors emphasized the excellent state of bilateral relations, which arrive in the current year to its sixtieth anniversary. He reiterated that Cuba will maintain its commitment to Ghana, ratified at the conclusion of its studies by 219 new Ghanaian doctors, and the arrival of a new group of two hundred. He expressed his confidence that Ghana will have an important representation at the VI Regional Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba in the city of Abuja.
The event, were also present the Staff of the Embassy and a representation of the BMC and the Cubans living in Ghana. The activity was enlivened by a traditional music group, led by the famous actor Ice Kenkey. The Pan African TV and the Diplomatic Affairs channels covered the activity.
