Under the auspices of the Embassy of Cuba and the support of the friends of solidarity, was held in Accra a Political and Cultural Activity on the night of the 31st December and first morning hours of 1st January to commemorate the arrival of the 58th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Alex P. Segbefia, who led the Ghanaian part, ratified the historical ties of friendship between Cuba and Ghana, and signaled the special significance for both peoples of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution. The Minister, who is concluding his responsibility in January, thanked to Cuba for the support in the Health sector, exemplified in this occasion in the new Medical Brigade, which has been in Ghana since the middle of October 2016. On the Cuban side, the Ambassador, Pedro Luis González Despaigne, emphasized the importance for Cuba and Ghana of the date to be celebrated, especially as it constitutes the first anniversary without the presence of the historic leader, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, whom was paid a minute's silence.
Representatives of the Solidarity with Cuba, members of the Cuban Trained Ghanaian Graduates Association (ESBECAN), Cubans who live in Ghana, a group of members of the Cuban Medical Brigade, and the staff of the Embassy of Cuba, ratified on 1st January, 2017, the historical friendship that links both countries and the commitment to be faithful to the historical legacy of Fidel.
