Commemoration of the 9th Anniversary of the Passing of Fidel Castro Ruz in Ankara and İzmir

On the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the passing of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, commemorative events were held in the cities of Ankara and İzmir, bringing together representatives of institutions and solidarity organizations to honor his historical and political legacy. In Ankara, the event took place at the Nazım Hikmet Cultural Center, where Cuban Ambassador to Türkiye, Alejandro Díaz Palacios, participated and delivered a speech highlighting the continued relevance of Fidel’s thought, his commitment to sovereignty, social justice, education, health, and solidarity among peoples. In İzmir, the commemoration was held at the Nâzım Hikmet Cultural Center in Konak, featuring presentations, readings, and audiovisual materials reflecting Fidel’s influence on contemporary political thought and his internationalist legacy. Both events emphasized the significance of his ideals for current social struggles and reaffirmed the commitment to keeping his memory alive, promoting the values that defined his life and work: dignity, equality, solidarity, and the defense of social justice.
