Commemoration of the Giron Victory with the Ethio-Cuban Community in the Netherlands

The Hague, April 19, 2025. Representatives of the Ethio-Cuban Community in the Netherlands and Belgium visited the Cuban Embassy in the Netherlands to join in the commemoration of the 64th anniversary of the historic Victory in Playa Giron.

The celebration included a fraternal exchange with Cuban Ambassador Eva Yelina Silva Walker and members of the diplomatic mission, an update on the Cuban reality, the impact of the brutal and genocidal blockade, and the unwavering determination to defend sovereignty and independence and continue building a society of equality and social justice, for all and for the good of all.

The Ethio-Cubans present recalled their experiences and lessons learned in Cuba, and their feelings of gratitude and loyalty to what they consider their second homeland. They spoke of dreams, of preserving memories so that present and future generations will not forget how much Cuba has contributed with many nations, especially those in Africa, and of the current situation in the country. They also mentioned passages from the heroic feat, highlighting the importance of this victory, as the first achieved against Yankee imperialism in Latin America.

The afternoon concluded with the laying of flowers in honor of the Commander-in-Chief, historic leader of the Cuban Revolution and principal architect of the Giron Victory.
