The Executive Order of May 1st and the Blockade Measures Announced Today Further Increase the Harm to the Cuban Population and Reinforce the Threat of Aggression
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejects, in the strongest possible terms, the Executive Order issued by the White House on May 1st, 2026, which tightens, to unprecedented and extreme levels, the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.

The African section of the Witte Literary Society in The Hague, Netherlands, hosted a keynote address by Dr. Enrique Alemán Gutiérrez: "Cuba: Cultural Diversity and Ethnography."
Before an audience of scholars and supportive friends of Cuba, Dr. Alemán reviewed Cuban history, highlighting the African influence on the identity and social resilience of the Cuban people.
Established the Dutch chapter of the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity (REDH).
Amsterdam, May 1, 2026. Intellectuals, academics, and members of political parties and social movements gathered in the city center on Wednesday, April 29, and agreed to establish the Dutch chapter of the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity (REDH).
The emotional gathering was attended by Ambassador Eva Yelina Silva Walker and Dr. Enrique Alemán, a Cuban deputy and president of the Cabildo Quisicuaba Socio-Cultural Project Foundation.
The Cuban ambassador to the Netherlands visited the University of Twente.
The Hague, April 25, 2026. On April 23, Ambassador Eva Yelina Silva Walker visited the University of Twente, located in the Dutch city of Enschede, and held a cordial exchange with administrators and researchers from the Faculty of Science and Technology.
The visit provided an opportunity to highlight the achievements and activities of this leading institution and the potential for cooperation with Cuban universities and research centers.
Meeting Confirmed Between Cuba and US Officials.
General Deputy Director for U.S. Affairs, Alejandro García del Toro spoke to Granma.
Alejandro García del Toro, general deputy director for U.S. Affairs at Cuba's Foreign Ministry (MINREX), confirmed recent foreign press reports on meetings between US and Cuba’s officials in Havana.
“It’s a sensitive matter that, as we have said, we have managed discreetly,” he said.
The Cuban official confirmed that assistant secretaries from the U.S. State Department met with a Cuban delegation led by a deputy minister of foreign relations.
