The Communist Party Marxist Kenya (CPMK) has condemned the United States over its tightening economic blockade on Cuba, declaring full solidarity with the Cuban people amid what it calls Washington's escalating imperial aggression.
The party's Central Committee issued a formal solidarity statement, warning that a January 29, executive order signed by President Donald Trump declaring a national emergency to impose an oil blockade marks the harshest US siege on Cuba in decades.
“The recent escalation on 29 January 2026, with the signing of Executive Order 14380 by the Trump administration declaring a 'national emergency' to impose an oil blockade is a direct assault designed to cripple Cuba’s hospitals, food supplies, and water systems. This is the most severe tightening of the siege in decades,” warned the group.
CPMK said the order was deliberately designed to cripple Cuba's hospitals, food supplies and water systems, describing it as far more than a routine economic sanction.
"The blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba is not merely an economic sanction; it is an act of genocidal war against an entire people," the statement read in part.
CPMK argued the blockade constitutes one of the gravest ongoing crimes against humanity, sustained deliberately across multiple generations.
CPMK referenced repeated United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) votes condemning the US blockade, describing near-unanimous global opposition as confirmation of Cuba's absolute right to self-determination.
The party praised Cuba's continued resilience under pressure, calling the island's decades of resistance proof that socialism is not theoretical but an achievable, lived reality.
