Wellington, November 16. The Communist Party of Aotearoa (Te Nuku Mauī CPA) issued a declaration of support for Cuba, the text of which reads: “Te Nuku Mauī CPA congratulates Cuba as it opens up after a successful campaign against the coronavirus that has seen it become the only country to vaccinate all its citizens using domestically developed COVID-19 vaccines.
The fact it has done this despite the US blockade highlights the incredible solidarity, strength, and stamina of the Cuban people for their social and solidaristic society regardless of imperial ambition. Washington DC claimed November 15 would be a day of counter-revolutionary protest, yet the Cuban streets were only filled with children returning to school.
We endorse and join the message of socialist and friendship groups around the world calling for an end to the blockade on Cuba to allow the nation to fully and freely participate in our international human community. This would not just have immense benefit for the Cuban people, but on all peoples worldwide. As the Democratic Socialists of America said during solidarity rallies on Nov. 15, “End the blockade on Cuban aid, let Cuba vaccinate the world!”.
Te Nuku Mauī will always stand in solidarity with the Cuban people and party, who share our commitment to a world of peace, friendship, and social justice.”
