Juan Carlos Marsán Aguilera, Vice Head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the Party, spoke on behalf of the Communist Party of Cuba in the Web seminar, Lenin, 100 years later, which was organized and coordinated by the Communist Party of Sri Lanka and was developed via web with the participation of China, Vietnam, Cuba, India, South Africa, Nepal and Russia.
The seminar was inaugurated with the intervention of the general secretary of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, Dr. G. Weerasinghe, who thanked all the communist parties of these countries for their participation.
In his speech, Marsán Aguilera extended a fraternal and warm greeting and gratitude to the Communist Party of Sri Lanka for the invitation to this Seminar, which, he said, calls them to pay tribute to the transcendental legacy of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin 100 years after his physical disappearance, and also to reflect on his exceptional contribution, from thought and action, to the international progressive movement.
The conclusions of the seminar were presented by D.E.W. Gunasekara, historical leader of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka.
Vladimir Ilyich Lenin was a Russian revolutionary, Bolshevik leader, communist politician, main leader of the October Revolution and first leader of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the first state of workers and peasants. He was the author of a theoretical and practical body based on Marxism known as Leninism and later called Marxism-Leninism.
Lenin died on January 21, 1924 and this Sunday marks one hundred years since his death, but he remains a symbol and paradigm of world revolutionary thought.
