Condemnation of the blockade and solidarity with Cuba in Veria, Greece

Veria, Greece 9/13/21 As part of the visit of the Cuban ambassador to Greece Zelmys Domínguez Cortina, and the counselor of the embassy José Oriol Marrero Martinez to the city of Veria, was held a massive event of solidarity and support to Cuba at the Agia Paraskevi Amphitheater (Holy Friday), in the Kalithea neighborhood (Buena Vista), Veria, organized by the Greek Committee for the awarding of the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize to the contingent of Cuban doctors "Henry Reeve", and the newspaper "La Opinión Diferente" (The Different Opinion), with the collaboration of the Veria Mayor's Office of Culture. The event was moderated by the journalist and friend Alex Jatzikostas, from the newspaper “La Opinión Diferente” (The different Opinion) ; also spoke the friend of Cuba Nikos Mottas, author of the book “Che: Ambassador of the Revolution” and general secretary of the Hellenic-Cuban Friendship Association of Thessaloniki, as well as the tireless fighter and friend Velissarios Kossivakis, coordinator of the Greek Committee for the award of the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize to the contingent of Cuban doctors "Henry Reeve," which requested a minute of silence in memory of the great musician and friend of Cuba Mikis Theodorakis, recently deceased. All expressed their solidarity and support for Cuba, as well as condemnation of the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba.The central words were in charge of the Cuban ambassador who thanked those present, explained widely the current situation in the country, the intensification of the blockade, the measures against Cuba, the manipulations and maneuvers to destabilize the revolution that once again counted with the support of the people, the campaign against COVID, the achievements of biotechnology, Cuban vaccines among other topics of interest. During the event dozens of people acquired the collection of paintings entitled "Cuba is not alone", by Takis Varelas, prestigious Greek painter and vice president of the Greek initiative for the Nobel Prize, present at the event, and whose funds will be donated in full to the fight against Covid-19 in Cuba, another of the solidarity actions of the people of Greece towards the heroic and resistant people of Cuba. There was also a performance by a talented young Greek musician. Representatives of various political forces were present, several militants of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), representatives of unions, associations, doctors, lawyers, educators, fighters in the civil war, artists, friends of Cuba and the people in general, who showed the friendship and love of the Greek people for the Cuban people.
