On the occasion of the Mini-Festival for Peace in the Danish city of Roskilde on 24 August, the Ambassador of Cuba in Denmark Yiliam Gómez Sardiñas denounced the illegality and extraterritoriality of the blockade policy imposed against Cuba by the US government for six decades, as well as the activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act. She also rejected the application of the Monroe doctrine by the US in Latin America and stressed the importance of defending the Proclame of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, signed during the Second Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in Havana, in 2014. The Cuban diplomat also recalled her country's position in defense of the peace and self-determination of peoples, as well as in favor of achieving general and complete disarmament, including nuclear disarmament as a priority objective.
This event focuses its attention on peace, international solidarity and the anti-fascist struggle. This year several organizations such as the Antifascist Forum; DEMOS; the Horserod-Stutthof Association; The Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship joint their voices for peace, with the support of other associations and progressive groups in Denmark. In this context, it was announced the program of activities to celebrate the United Nations Peace Day in the Nordic country, on September 21. (Embacuba Dinamarca)
