On behalf of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba to the Kingdom of Thailand, we expressed our deepest condolences on the passing away on August 18, 2018 of the Nobel Peace Prize and former Secretary General of the United Nations Kofi Annan.
The prominent Ghanaian diplomat distinguished himself for his struggle for peace. He gave his life to the good causes of humanity, especially the defense of equality between peoples and nations. In the words of the Cuban President Miguel Díaz Canel Bermúdez, Kofi Annan was an outstanding son of Africa and an active promoter of multilateralism.
In his capacity as the seventh Secretary General of the UN (1997-2006), bringing the United Nations closer to the people was at the center of his priorities.
We made evident the feelings of sorrow of the People and the Government of Cuba.
