Congratulatory Message

Dear Graduates,

The indomitable Maya Angelou in her writing ‘Wouldn’t Take Nothing for MY Journey Now’ wrote:  “That knowledge humbles me, melts my bones, closes my ears, and makes my teeth rock loosely in their gums.  And it also liberates me.  I am a big bird winging over high mountains, down into serene valleys.  I am ripples of waves on silver seas.  I’m a spring leaf trembling in anticipation.”

Seven years ago, as innocent young people from Antigua and Barbuda, you too off on a journey for knowledge.  Knowledge that would be the determining factor in the type of lives that you would lead.  The Republic of Cuba became your new home, your refuge and your source of knowledge, intertwined with exciting cultural and social experiences.  Today you have returned as mature adults with a quest to provide service to your nation in the field of medicine.  We are certain that you are eager to impart the knowledge you have obtained in our sister island of Cuba.  We implore you to live your dreams and be not afraid to let your experiences and knowledge set you apart from the crowd.

The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Committee and by extension the Government of Antigua and Barbuda is immensely proud of your accomplishments and eagerly anticipate the impact that you will have on our society.  We comment the Government and People of the Republic of Cuba for steadfastly supporting the educational agenda of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda through the provision of scholarships on an annual basis.  The assistance provided has had a significant impact on the citizens of Antigua and Barbuda.

Congratulations to each of you and may your work be of benefit to everyone you encounter.
