Conmemorated in Laos the inauguration of the Tricontinental Conference in Cuba, 1978

Vientiane, January 12, 2026. In Laos, the inaugural session of the Tricontinental Conference, held in Havana on September 14, 1978, in support of the struggle of Asia, Africa and Latin America, was commemorated.

A fruitful debate took place at this important event, where core ideas and themes such as unity were discussed. One concept expressed was: "The most important historical weapon that imperialists have had against the peoples of Africa and throughout the world has been division. Division between countries, division between ethnicities, division between revolutionary forces. If there is one thing we would like to emphasize in these few words, it is that unity must be the permanent motto of all of us who oppose the system of domination that imperialism seeks to maintain."

These ideas remain relevant today, and peace-loving peoples and nations must be vigilant.
