Within the framework of the Book Fair organized by the Kadıköy Municipality, Cuba's Consul General in Istanbul, Raúl E. Madrigal Cárdenas, participated in a discussion forum sponsored by Derleniş Yayınları Publishing House and the HKP Party, where various issues related to current developments in Cuba were addressed.
During his remarks, the Cuban diplomat provided an overview of the main challenges currently facing Cuba and denounced the tightening of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States against the island. He also pointed out that, in recent months, this policy has been accompanied by what he described as a severe energy blockade, further exacerbating difficulties in ensuring the supply of fuel, electricity, and other essential services for the population.
The Cuban representative stated that these coercive measures have contributed to creating a complex humanitarian situation that directly affects the living conditions of the Cuban people. In this context, he characterized the United States' policy toward Cuba as an act of extreme gravity and argued that its consequences for the civilian population constitute a crime against humanity.
During the discussion, participants raised questions regarding Cuba's economic and social reality, the island's international relations, and prospects for cooperation between Cuba and Türkiye. Attendees expressed interest in learning firsthand about the effects of the sanctions and the measures undertaken by the Cuban people to confront current challenges.
The event provided a valuable opportunity for dialogue and engagement between Cuba and Turkish society, contributing to a greater understanding of Cuban realities and to the strengthening of the bonds of friendship and solidarity between the two peoples.
