UPDATE! As reported in a Note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dated 16 October 2020, Cuban travellers are exempted until further notice from the consular procedure for the extension of stay abroad.

Kingston, Jamaica, 12 October 2020. As part of the new Plan for coping with Covid-19, recently announced by our Government, new measures have been adopted in relation to Cubans abroad, foreigners permanently residing in Cuba and international travellers, which will come into effect as of 12 October 2020. In this regard, the following is reported:

  • Cuban citizens and foreigners with permanent residence in the national territory who had approved extensions of stay or whose terms were due to expire in 24 and 12 months, respectively, as from 19 March 2020, may stay abroad until 12 October 2021 without losing their status as residents in the national territory.
  • Travelers arriving on international flights must strictly comply with the protocols and sanitary measures established by the Cuban health authorities.
  • PCR tests will be performed to all travellers coming from abroad upon arrival in the country.
