Cooperation Agreement signed between the Latin-American news agency Prensa Latina and the Lao Press in foreign languages.

Vientiane September 1st, 2023. A Cooperation Agreement for the exchange of Services between the Latin American News Agency Prensa Latina and the Lao Press in Foreign Languages of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (MICT) represented by H.E. the Cuban Ambassador Enna Viant Valdés and Mr. Thonglor Duansavanh, Chief Editor.

The agreement signing ceremony was presided over by Mr. Phosy Keomanivong, Deputy Minister of the MICT, in charge of Information issues. Also present were Mr. Somsavat Phongsa, Head of the Media Department of the ministry itself; heads of department, general directors, Heads of newspapers in foreign languages and likewise the Counselor of the Embassy Leonel González Zulueta, in charge of Press issues.

The Vientiane Times Foreign Language Newspaper, established on April 7, 1994, currently cooperates with more than 50 news agencies and newspapers in more than 30 countries around the world, in addition to the one signed last year with the Kaosan Pathet Lao News Agency. known as KPL.

The agreement aims to continue strengthening cooperation with local media in the dissemination of information and bring information from the countries of the region closer, which is published in the press office for readers of the Vientiane Time newspaper; likewise, it is a bridge that contributes to greater understanding and cooperation.

Mr. Duangsavanh elaborated on the major events that will take place in 2024, such as those related to ASEAN, whose pro tempore presidency will be occupied by Laos and the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Vientiane Times newspaper, while Viant Valdés offered an overview of the situation in Cuba, and in particular the intensification of the ironclad economic, financial and commercial blockade that it has been suffering for more than 60 years, reinforced by the inclusion of Cuba in the illegal and arbitrary list of countries that co-sponsor terrorism. She also expanded on the preparations for the G77 + China Summit that will take place in Havana next September and thanked the permanent coverage of Cuba issues in the Lao media.
