Counselor in charge of Consular Affairs visits the headquarters of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers of Türkiye.

The Counselor in charge of Consular Affairs of the Cuban Embassy in Türkiye, Luis Javier Cabañas Álvarez, held a meeting with Yunus Yener, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Chamber of Mechanical Engineers, at its headquarters located in the city of Ankara.
During the pleasant exchange, the Cuban diplomat reiterated the condolences of the Cuban government and people for the human and material losses caused by the earthquakes that affected Türkiye in recent days. He stressed that Cuba sent a medical brigade that is currently providing assistance in the region of Kahramanmaraş as a token of its solidarity with Türkiye.
In his speech, Cabañas stressed the severe affectations caused by the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government on Cuba for more than 60 years, with emphasis on the health sector. He highlighted how this aggressive policy was opportunistically intensified by President Donald Trump during the period of confrontation with the Covid-19 pandemic and its maintenance by the current President Joe Biden. He also detailed the actions promoted and financed by the U.S. government in social networks to subvert the Cuban constitutional order and destabilize the country.
He expressed his gratitude for the traditional support of the Turkish people for Cuba's struggle against the blockade and noted that despite these aggressive actions and the economic problems generated by the blockade, the Cuban people are resisting and moving forward.
For his part, the President of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers expressed his gratitude for the visit and the wide-ranging exchange held with the West Indian diplomat and expressed his solidarity with the Cuban people. The meeting was also attended by Onur Çuvalci, members of the Board of Directors of the Cuba - Türkiye "José Martí" Friendship Association.
