Cuba with 62 athletes to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

Havana, July 8 (JIT).- Athletics closed with 19 tickets and raised to 62 the number of those qualified by Cuba for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, scheduled for July 26 to August 11.

The Deporte Rey delegation grew on Sunday with another nine exponents, after World Athletics made official the places assigned through the ranking.

In this way, the discus throwers Silinda Morales, Melany Matheus and Mario Díaz, the sprinter Yunisleidy García (100 meters), the long jumper Alejandro Parada, the triple jumper Andy Hechavarría and the women's relay of the 4x400 meters relay entered the Olympic event.

Another 10 athletes were guaranteed their presence in the Olympic competition, having achieved the marks required by WA, among them the stellar triple jumpers Leyanis Pérez, Lázaro Martínez and Liadagmis Povea.

In this way, athletics is once again the sport with the largest number of Cuban figures in the multi-sport event. Behind them are wrestling (10), boxing (5), judo and shooting sports, both with four.

There will also be a Cuban presence in the competitions of canoeing (3), table tennis (3), diving (2), swimming (2), rowing (2), taekwondo (2) and beach volleyball (2).

The list of 16 sports is completed by archery, cycling, modern pentathlon and weightlifting, all with a place.

The Cuban sports embassy to Paris 2024 will be flagged this Tuesday in Havana.
