THE BAHAMAS, March 2, 2017.- Cuban Ambassador to the Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, recently held an exchange with the Bahamian Minister of Tourism, Hon. Obediah H. Wilchcombe, at the headquarters of his ministry.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the pending bilateral issues and agreed to work together for the development of tourism in the Caribbean region.

The Bahamian Minister of Tourism highlighted his visit to Cuba in May 2016, when he had the opportunity to exchange with his Cuban counterpart on projects of interest to both parties, especially on the multi destination. Likewise, he stressed that it was time for the countries of the region to stop seeing other tourist destinations as a threat and work together in order to take advantage of the potential of each one for the development of tourism.

Meanwhile, the Cuban Ambassador highlighted the strategies used by Cuba to achieve quality tourism despite the permanence of the US blockade against the island. She also referred to the meetings of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) and the CARICOM-Cuba Ministerial Meeting, which will take place in Havana in the coming days.

Also present at the meeting Bahamians officials from the Ministry of Tourism, the Director of Havanatur Bahamas, Luis Armando Pérez Cobas and the Second Secretary of the Cuban Embassy, Vanesa Ortega Guerrero.
