The Bahamas, 21 October 2018. At the invitation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CCPCC), a delegation of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP), the main opposition party in The Bahamas visited Cuba from October 17 to 20. On this occasion, the Bahamian delegation was led by Philip Brave Davis, leader of the PLP and former Deputy Prime Minister of the Caribbean nation.
Especially significant during the visit, were the meetings with the head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee, José Ramón Balaguer and his deputy chief, Jorge Arias, as well as other senior officials and leaders of the Communist Party of Cuba. As part of these exchanges, both parties reviewed issues of mutual interest and renewed their commitment to work together in various areas. They visited places of economic, historical and cultural interest.
The delegation that accompanied the PLP leader was composed of Frederick Mitchell, PLP Chairman and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of The Bahamas, Chester Cooper, PLP Deputy Leader, Barbara Cartwright, PLP Secretary General and Kevin Simmons, assistant. On the Cuban side, Idalmis Brooks, coordinator of the Caribbean and officer of the International Relations Department of the CCPCC, also participated.
