NASSAU, May 20th, 2018.- The Fifth Round of Technical Talks on Migration between Cuba and The Bahamas will take place on 22 May in Havana, Cuba.
The dialogue will be chaired by Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, Head of the Division of Consular Affairs and Cuban Residents Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba. The Bahamian delegation will be headed by the Director General of the Bahamian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sharon Brennen-Haylock, and also composed of officials of the Immigration Department, the office of the Attorney General, Minister of Legal Affairs, the Royal Bahamas Defense Forces as well as other officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bahamian Ambassador to Cuba.
In this fifth edition of the Technical Talks on Migration between Cuba and The Bahamas, the migratory relationship between the two countries will be addressed. Issues of mutual interest will be analyzed, while allowing the development of mechanisms that contribute to achieve a regular, safe and orderly migration.
These technical talks are held every year. On January 12, 1996, Cuba and The Bahamas signed a Memorandum of Understanding on migration issues.
