Cuba and China Test Strength of Bilateral Ties in Zimbabwe

Harare, May 21, 2025 - Cuba and China today demonstrated the strength of their bilateral relations during a meeting between their ambassadors to Zimbabwe, Her Excellency Ms. Susellys Pérez Mesa and His Excellency Mr. Zhou Ding.

The historic political ties of friendship and collaboration, as well as the desire to consolidate them, were the focus of the exchange held at the headquarters of the Asian nation's diplomatic mission in this capital.

During the cordial meeting, the ambassadors discussed interests on the bilateral agenda, regional and international priorities, and relations with Zimbabwe.

The Cuban diplomat commented on the intensification of the blockade imposed by the United States more than six decades ago and the unilateral inclusion of the Caribbean country on the spurious list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism.

Zhou also considered it unfair to consider Cuba a sponsor of terrorism and highlighted the closeness and strength of the ties between Havana and Beijing.

The two ambassadors' talks were attended by Minister-Counselor Luis Enrique González Acosta and Pan Xiongwen, Director of the Political and Press Section.
