Rarotonga, August 8th - In the framework of the Launch of the Cook Islands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Statement of Strategic Intentions 2019-2024 , the Cuban ambassador Mario Alzugaray was invited to participate as a panelist and comment on the experiences of Cuba's development and his expression in the implementation of the diplomatic work in his country.
The Cuban official emphasized the challenges faced by the small island states, an issue in which both countries share diverse challenges, explaining his country's will to continue promoting active diplomacy, where international cooperation plays an essential role.
The occasion was also conducive to highlight the successes of the different social programs in Cuba, the result of the effort and plans developed by his government, despite the aggressive policy and economic war implemented by the United States against his country for six decades.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Henry Puna, who performed as the keynote speaker. The Cook Islands Foreign Secretary, Tepaeru Herrmann, was in charge of presenting the policy document. The High Commissioners of Australia and New Zealand also participated as panelists, together with members of the cabinet and managers of the local Foreign Ministry. (Embacuba NZ).
