Cuba’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Miriam Morales Palmero, met with General Birame Diop, the new President of the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Both sides acknowledged the high level of historical relations that unite Cuba with African nations, particularly those in West Africa. They also discussed their shared interest in further strengthening cooperation between Cuba and ECOWAS in key sectors—such as health, education, and human resource development—for the benefit of the populations in the subregion.
Ambassador Morales explained how the devastating impact of the intensified, genocidal blockade, the energy siege, and the "maximum pressure" policy imposed by the United States government against Cuba constitute a flagrant, massive, and systematic violation of human rights.
The President of the ECOWAS Commission conveyed his greetings to the people and government of Cuba, as well as his solidarity in light of the complex situation they are currently facing.
