CUBA, April 12th, 2019.- Representatives from Cuba and the European Union will meet this Tuesday, April 16th, in Havana, to hold the first Dialogue on Sustainable Development Cuba-European Union. The Cuban delegation will be headed by Director General for Multilateral Affairs and International Law at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rodolfo Reyes Rodríguez, and the European part, by the Director General for International Cooperation and Development at the European Commission, Stefano Manservisi.
During the exchange, the parts will discuss the progress achieved by Cuba and the European Union on the implementation of the Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the challenges faced in the compliance of this important task.
Also, on April 15th, a meeting between representatives from Cuban and European civil society will be carried out, aiming at exchanging views on the role the organizations from civil society should have in the compliance of the objectives and goals to Sustainable Development.
Cuba has full diplomatic relations with the European Union and its 28 member States. This dialogue on Sustainable Development will occur by virtue of article 14 of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement adopted by both parts in 2016, which entered into force, provisionally, in 2017.
