Havana, April 24, 2024. On Thursday, April 25, Cuba and the European Union will hold talks on Sustainable Development, in Brussels, Belgium, under the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement concluded between both parties in 2016 and put into force, provisionally, in 2017, which is in its fourth implementation cycle. This dialogue will continue the one held in June 2022, in Havana.
The delegations of the largest of the Antilles and the EU will exchange on shared priorities in terms of sustainable development, as well as the achievements and challenges in implementing the 2030 Agenda approved by the United Nations.
They will also exchange on their respective strategies and experiences in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals until 2030, in the interest of identifying possible joint collaborative actions in the multilateral forums where these issues are addressed.
The Cuban delegation will be chaired by the Director General of Multilateral Affairs and International Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rodolfo Benítez Verson, who will be accompanied by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, the Ministry of Economy and Planning and the Cuban Foreign Ministry. The European part will be headed by the Director General of Global Affairs of the European External Action Service (EEAS), Ms. Belén Martínez Carbonell, and will also include other senior officials of the European diplomatic service.
