The Consul General of Cuba in Istanbul, Raúl E. Madrigal Cárdenas, participated in the Culture, Peace and Art Festival, organized by the Municipality of Gömeç, in Balıkesir Province, where he shared with representatives of the local community and participants in the event.
During his intervention, he addressed the reality faced by the Cuban people as a consequence of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, highlighting the impact of measures aimed at obstructing the Island’s access to fuel and exerting pressure on third countries and companies that maintain economic relations with Cuba.
The Consul General explained that these measures have concrete consequences on the daily lives of the Cuban people, affecting essential sectors such as electricity generation, healthcare, education, transportation, and the production and distribution of food. He also defended Cuba’s right to freely establish relations and trade with other countries, based on respect for sovereignty and equality among States.
The gathering also provided an opportunity to pay tribute to the Commander-in-Chief of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, on the centenary of his birth, highlighting his legacy of struggle for sovereignty, peace, solidarity, and friendship among peoples.
