Accra, 23 December. – With the participation of Ghana’s Ambassador/Designate to Cuba, Kofi Attor, the central ceremony marking the 66th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries was held at the Residence of Cuba in the Ghanaian capital.
The event also provided an opportunity to commemorate the 67th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution and the founding of Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX), within the framework of the centenary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro.
In his remarks, Ambassador Julio E. Pujol Torres underscored the historical significance of these milestones, highlighted the excellent state of bilateral relations, and expressed appreciation for Ghana’s longstanding position in favour of lifting the blockade against Cuba.
Among those in attendance were Kwesi Pratt Jnr., Secretary General of the Socialist Movement of Ghana and President of the Ghana–Cuba Solidarity Campaign; Jacob Sosi, President of the Association of Cuban-Trained Graduates (ESBECAN); as well as other friends of Cuba, members of the Solidarity Campaign, Cuban residents, Ghanaian graduates from Cuba, and members of the Cuban State Mission.
