Havana recently served as the venue for the signing of a cooperation agreement between Cuba’s Agencia D’Arte de Servicios Profesionales Culturales (ARTex S.A.) and the National Museum of Grenada, aimed at strengthening the preservation of Grenadian cultural heritage.
The agreement provides for the deployment of a team of Cuban specialists who will work alongside the National Museum of Grenada. This initiative is part of the tradition of friendship and collaboration between both countries, now extended to the field of cultural conservation and documentation.
Once in the “Spice Island,” Cuban professionals will contribute expertise in key areas such as museum management, museology, documentation and collections, and conservation. Their work will help improve conservation practices and enrich the museum’s cultural programming.
The agreement was signed by Ms. Tania Cabrera Fleites, General Director of ARTex, and Grenada’s Ambassador to Cuba, Glen B. Noel, representing the Grenadian government. Its implementation will be supported by Grenada’s Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Economy.
Cooperation between the two Caribbean islands dates back to the years of the Grenadian Revolution, when it was promoted by Fidel Castro and Maurice Bishop. With the signing of this new agreement, collaboration is now expanded into the cultural sphere.
