KINGSTON, JAMAICA, December 18, 2017. Minister of Education, Youth and Information of Jamaica, Senator Ruel Reid, received the Cuban Ambassador, Ines fors Fernandez, at his offices in this capital.
During the fruitful meeting, the parts reiterated the willingness by both governments to continue strengthening the exchanges in the sphere of Education and to identify new areas for the bilateral cooperation that celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
Minister Ruel Reid highlighted the work carried out by Cuban teachers during these two decades which has allowed the learning of Spanish language in children and youth, a fundamental goa of the Jamaican Government.
Likewise, the Minister praised Cuban educational system and its universal character that encompasses early childhood years.
The Cuban Ambassador expressed the compromise of her governmento to continue supporting Jamaica in the noble objectives of achieve a quality education for all.
The Cuban diplomat also informed on the celebration of the International Congress University 2018 and extended an invitation to the Minister to participate in the event that gathers, every two years, representatives from higher education institutions all over the world.
The Cuban Educaational Brigade in Jamaica has 59 collaborators distributed in all the regions of the Caribbean nation. Omar Varona, Coordinator of the brigade, participated at the meeting.
