Kingston, October 6, 2026. Representatives of the Solidarity Movement, Jamaican graduates of Cuban institutions, members of the Association of Cuban Residents in Jamaica, the Cuban educational brigade, and members of Cuba’s diplomatic mission in Jamaica came together to pay solemn tribute to the victims of the Barbados Crime, marking half a century since the brutal terrorist attack. The ceremony recalled the profound significance of this date, officially designated as the Day of the Victims of State Terrorism and CARICOM-Cuba Day Against Terrorism.
In her keynote address, Cuba’s Ambassador to Jamaica, Tania López Larroque, denounced the fact that hostility toward the Cuban Revolution continues to retain its cruel essence. The diplomat strongly condemned the impact of the intensified economic blockade and the ongoing international energy persecution campaign against the island, describing them as criminal actions deliberately aimed at undermining the well-being and peace of mind of Cuban families. She also reaffirmed that, in the face of attempts at economic strangulation and external threats, Cuba responds with unity, solidarity, and creative resistance, refusing to accept imperial tutelage.
In memory of the 73 victims of Cubana de Aviación Flight 455, representatives of the various organizations expressed their heartfelt solidarity with Cuba, reaffirming their support amid the current intensification of the US blockade. In a deeply moving ceremony, those in attendance affirmed that the martyrs of Barbados have neither been forgotten nor are they dead.
