Kingston, Jamaica, 27 August 2019. The history of Cuba’s solidarity and cooperation in the educational field became manifest this time with the arrival in Jamaica of a new group of Cuban teachers who will teach subjects related to the exact and natural sciences, and Spanish language, at schools throughout this Caribbean nation.
Cuba and Jamaica’s cooperation in general education began in November 1997. According to statistics offered by the Ministry of Education of Jamaica, some 372 Cuban teachers and professors have rendered their services in this island between that year and 2018
Over the course of this year, some 31,000 Jamaican children and youths have benefited from the educational work carried out by Cuban teachers.
With the arrival of new teachers from the Greatest Island in the Antilles, Jamaica is nourished with the benefits of the significant Cuban pedagogical tradition and the teaching improvement program implemented in Cuba to continue increasing education quality.
