Pretoria, June 14, 2020.- Today, we celebrate the 41st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the Kingdom of Lesotho. Since the formalization of their ties in 1979, relationships have permanently strengthened on the basis of friendship and cooperation.
We proudly highlight the almost two decades of the Cuban medical cooperation with Lesotho, started in 2002. In that nation African currently serves a Cuban medical brigade which has wide recognition from the authorities and the Kingdom population.
Likewise, Cuban specialists are in that country African advising to materialize the opening of a Faculty of Sport and Physical Culture at the National University of Lesotho.
Cuba has also contributed and contributes, through the granting from annual scholarships for training in their educational institutions Basothian professionals in fields such as medicine, physical culture and sport, agronomy, veterinary, mining, economy, accounting, hydraulic engineering, telecommunications, civil construction, and computing, among other specialties.
Cuba appreciates Lesotho's firm support to the Cuban people's struggle against the criminal and illegal blockade imposed by the government of the United States.
On the occasion of His Majesty King Letsie's official visit to Cuba III last March, following an invitation from the Cuban President Miguel Díaz Canel Bermúdez, both Heads of State highlighted their interest in continuing to strengthen and diversify the excellent bilateral relations for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
