Cuba and New Zealand promote bilateral relations and cooperation

NEW ZEALAND, October 9, 2018 – The Cuban 1st Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marcelino Medina González and his New Zealander counterpart Brook Barrington, highlighted this Friday to promote bilateral relations between the two countries in the context of the visit the Cuban deputy foreign minister is paying to this country.

In the context of the exchange in the headquarters of the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs both diplomats underlined the importance of continuing to work for the development of political and economic links and also acknowledged the positive ties established in the area of agriculture, livestock rising, education and culture, academia and science with cooperation projects for mutual benefit and that of other Pacific states.

The Cuban 1st Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs highighted the importance attached by the largest of the Antilles to the links with New Zealand, emphasizing on the fact that links are based on mutual respect and confidence. The vice minister also highlighted the fluid exchange of high-level visits between both countries’ foreign ministries which has boosted the political dialogue between both countries. Both parties also acknowledged the fluid and beneficial cooperation in the multilateral context as well as the coincidence in multiple aspects of the international agenda.

As part of the working program the 1st vice minister is carrying out in New Zealand he is scheduled to hold meetings with other officials of the New Zealand foreign office, members of Parliament and authorities from the Ministry of Trade among other activities. (Cubaminrex)
