Oslo, March 15, 2022. Between March 7 and 15, the meeting of the coordinating group of the international collaboration project "Well-being in Cuba and Norway. Strengthening professional training on social policies and well-being from an intercultural perspective" took place at the Norwegian University of Stavanger, focused on capacity building in education and research between the Department of Social Studies of that University and the Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Philosophy, History and Sociology of the University of Havana.
Several coordination meetings were held for medium and short-term work within the framework of the project, which includes postgraduate training stays in Cuba and Norway. In addition, Cuban professors Dr. Osnaide Izquierdo Quintana Quintana, head of the Department of Sociology, and Drs. Ángela Peña Farias and Dayané Proenza González, professors, gave two conferences and recorded Podcasts for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Cuba.
Likewise, Dr. Irina García Ojalvo, professor at the Center for Studies for Higher Education (CEPES) of the University of Havana held several meetings for the development of educational technologies.
As part of this project, since January, Thais Puentes de Armas, Mayulis Cruz Capote and Yudit Acosta, students of the Master's Degree in Sociology at the University of Havana, are doing master´s stay at the University of Stavanger. At the same time, MSc. William Espronceda Rodríguez and MSc. Yenisei Bombino Companioni, professors of the Department of Sociology of the University of Havana, are doing doctoral stays.
The project will run until 2024 and is expected to have a very positive impact on the development of the participating institutions and on academic collaboration between the two countries. (Embacuba Noruega)
