Cuba and Norway explore business opportunities in the renewable energy sector

Oslo, August 26, 2022. Representatives from the Cuban Ministry of Energy and Mines, headed by Rosell Guerra Campaña, Director of Renewable Energies, and Ramón López Ramos, Business Director of the National Electric Union, held a virtual meeting with Norwegian counterparts.

María Kristina Stokke, Project Manager for Emerging Markets of the Norwegian Solar Energy Cluster; Gunn Vik, Director of Hydropower and Solar Energy of Norwegian Energy Partners (Norwep), and important executives of the Norwegian companies Scatec and Norconsult, listened attentively to a presentation on the energy sector in Cuba, with emphasis on the current situation and perspectives of the renewable energy sources. Likewise, they received a detailed explanation about the opportunities for foreign investment in this sector.

The Cuban ambassador to Norway, Maité Rivero Torres, expressed that she hopes that this will be the beginning of a productive relationship between the participating Norwegian organizations and companies and their Cuban counterparts. "You can count on the support of the Embassy and my personal support," said the diplomat, since she is certain that in the energy sector and, in particular, that of renewable energies, there is much potential for the development of ties between the two countries in the economic-commercial and investment field.
