Cuba and Norway hold political consultations

Havana, December 8, 2023.- The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Elio Rodríguez Perdomo, and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway, Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik, presided over the biennial meeting of the political consultation mechanism this Friday.

Both diplomats expressed concern about the complex international situation and reviewed the main issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda. They described the collaboration between both countries on Human Rights as positive and reiterated their interest in continue working in that direction, recognizing the challenges to be faced to achieve the full realization of all human rights.

Aditionally, they agreed on the importance of both countries as promoters of global peace, positively highlighting the role they have played as guarantors in the negotiations for peace in Colombia.

Rodríguez Perdomo thanked the State Secretary for his country's traditional support in denouncing the criminal and unjust blockade imposed by the government of the United States.

The Norwegian State Secretary expressed gratitude for the Cuban government hospitality and conveyed his country's interest in continuing to expand political-diplomatic and cooperation relations.

Officials from the Norwegian Foreign Ministry and members of the Norway´s diplomatic corps accredited in Cuba accompanied the distinguished visitor.

On the Cuban side, the director for Europe and Canada, Ileana Núñez Mordoche, and other officials of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present.
